Besanjo Village

Primary school for 60 children with sanitary facilities and three water wells

THE RIGHT TO EDUCATION IN THE BUSH OF NORTHWEST MADAGASCAR

Besaonjo is a village located in the Boeny region, about 83 km from Mahajunga. When we first visited this village, children were learning squeezed in a small hut. In this isolated village we have built 2 schools, sanitary blocks as well as provided learning materials for students and teachers. Since access to drinking water is difficult in this remote region, we built 3 water wells for the schools and for the villagers.

The first school was completed in 2014 for 60 students.

As later more families moved to this village, we decided in 2017 to build a second school to increase the capacity and provide a safe and comfortable learning environment for students and teachers. Both schools are now part of the National Ministry of Education.
