Building a Better Future Together:
A New School for 220 Children
Trapean Svay Hom Commune, Siem Reap Province
In April 2026, the Scintillae Foundation successfully completed the construction of a new school building with five classrooms and modern sanitation facilities in Trapean Svay, Cambodia. On 28 April 2026, the official inauguration was celebrated together with our partner, the Cambodia Clean Water and Toilet Project (CCWTP).
Why This Project Was Urgently Needed
Located approximately 20 km from Siem Reap, the Commune of Trapean Svay is home to around 300 families, many of whom live in difficult economic conditions. The local primary school, attended by approximately 220 children, faced severe infrastructure challenges:
-
- Old and deteriorating wooden school buildings
-
- Overcrowded classrooms and limited learning space
-
- Poor and inadequate sanitation facilities
Despite these difficult conditions, the school continued to operate thanks to the remarkable dedication of the school administration and its 12 committed teachers.
With the completion of this new school complex, we have created a safe and lasting foundation for both the students and the teaching staff, helping to provide better educational opportunities for future generations.
Our Objectives: Safe Learning and Healthy Development
The project addressed the community’s most urgent needs by creating a secure, healthy, and inspiring learning environment through:
-
- Modern Classrooms
Construction of a new school building with five fully furnished and well-ventilated classrooms built to durable standards.

A Day of Celebration: The Official Inauguration
The inauguration ceremony on 28 April 2026 was a joyful and emotional occasion attended by students, parents, teachers, local authorities, and the Governor of the Siem Reap District.
In his speech, the Governor highlighted the vital importance of education and hygiene for the future of Cambodia’s children and praised the high quality of both the new school building and the sanitation facilities.
Today, the new school complex offers children a safe, healthy, and motivating environment in which they can learn, grow, and build a brighter future.
